January 31, 1943 - 78 on the Physics Exam

Sunday Morn

Dear Mom + Dad,

It is our day of rest (oh yeah!) Sunday.  We do however get two hours off this morning so I’m taking a little time off to write to you.  I had a physics test that really got me down yesterday.  It was one tough son of a gun.  I was really afraid that I was going to flunk it but I didn’t.  I only got a 78 but I’m happy about it.  You should have seen some of the other grads.  I have only one more test to take and I have to make 30 in it to pass the course.  I can get that with plenty to spare so I as least passed the course.  My average in it so far is 84% so I’m not so bad off.

Well tomorrow we go on open post.  Naturally I’m glad about it.  I have a date with Peg so I image I will have a good time.  At least I’m looking forward to it.  The only trouble is that the darn open posts never seem to be long enough.  It’s just being in by 10 P.M. that ruins it all as you don’t get much of an evening.

I went to the show and night and saw two thrillers.  At least 20 murders in two pictures.  There were so darn many of the them I couldn’t keep track of them.  Oh well it was fairly good entertainment although rather gruesome.

I got a letter from Ad and Anne Fisher.  They gave me all the details of closing the place.  Ad is being drafted.  It sure must be hard on the older fellows like him to be drafted at least, harder that it is for us younger fellows.

Well not much more news.  I think we finish school the end of next week.  Therefore primary school isn’t far off.

All my love
Bobby
