August 7, 1942 - Jigaboo

Friday

Dear Mom + Dad,

Here I am again doing my daily pen exercise. I don’t know as this is going to be a very long letter as I haven’t done a thing or nothing has happened in the last few days.

I haven’t been felling up to par since yesterday. My old “jigaboo” the stomach has been acting up again. It is the first time in months that it has bothered me. I just can’t get any enjoyment or any desire to eat at all. I’ve only been doing it for a little energy. I have taken some Sal Hepatica and that usually fixes me up in a day or so.

I have been laying around sleeping writing and reading for the last three days. It is getting me down a little but I can stand it. I expect to go to town tomorrow night to relieve the monotony of hanging around. I won’t do anything there but at least I get away from it all for a short time.

I’m at a loss about this letter perhaps it would have been better not to have written. But here it is take it or leave it. At least I tried.

Love
Bob

Bloggers Note:
They didn’t have television sets in 1942 but just for fun here is a classic Sal Hepatica commercial:
