Sunday Afternoon
Dear Mom + Dad,
I’m going to try to get off a few lines before I go to town. I’m waiting for the passes to be typed out so I can take off for an afternoon movie. I’ve spent more darn time in Blythe that I have in camp. I’ve been in every day except one that I’ve been here. Oh well I enjoying myself as much as possible.
We’re moving out of this area tomorrow morning sometime. However, I haven’t the slightest idea where we’re going. We might go back to camp and we might move to another spot in the field. Tomorrow will tell the tale as to what and where it will be. I’m not worrying about it as it doesn’t make much difference. One spot on this desert is as bad as another. I’m only hoping we move out of this area for good. That is this darn California desert.
This letter is being written under rather trying circumstances as the wind is blowing and the air is just full of dust. I’m doing my best under the conditions.
Last night I was in town and I bowled three games. Of course that was the first time I’ve done that in a long while. I didn’t do to badly but it wasn’t anything to brag about. 116-114-121. I need a little practice and then maybe I could jack it up a little. But regardless of the scores it was a lot of fun.I suppose by the time you receive this letter you will be in your new home. I’ll change the addresses on the 1st of the month. No doubt you’ll get them anyway. What is the number of that new home of yours on Marion Ave. You mentioned in one of your letters but I’ve forgotten it. If we go back to camp tomorrow I can look it up as I have several of your back letters.
I’ll try and write tomorrow. But as we’re moving I can’t be sure. Anyway I’ll do it as the first chance I get.
Love
Bob
