Dear Mom + Dad,
Well my day of K.P. is finished and that takes care of that for awhile, I hope. Of course you can never tell what is going to turn up or what they’ll do, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.
Your letter arrived today and I was very surprised to hear from you so soon. I also got a letter from Em which made me feel good. I meant to send you a letter airmail but when I wrote yesterday I couldn’t dig up a stamp. I then sent it by the usual “Free”. I hope you get it soon.
I have more darn mail to catch up on. I collected 6 that were held over for me yesterday, plus 2 today. I haven’t hardly touched it but I’ll get around to it tomorrow, I hope.
I have my application for the officers school and I will fill it out tonight and hand it in tomorrow. I’m trying for the air corp. ground officer school. Jimmy is in this. Another friend of mine is applying at the same time and we hope to get in together. I sure hope I can make it now that I’ve made up my mind to it. I should be able to but a lot depends on variable factors so I can’t be sure. Keep you fingers crossed. However if things go right I might be able to get out of here by the first of August. Of course all this will have to await future developments. I’m beginning to feel now that my army bad luck has changed and fortune is going to smile on me again. It’s just a hunch.
We moved today from our old tent to a different bunch. It makes no difference at all and I wouldn’t be surprised if we moved again in a few weeks. More fun!
I’ll write you again tomorrow.
Love
Bob

P.S. I’ve more or less recovered from my blues.
